What We Do

ListeningWorks helps people communicate more clearly, listen more deeply, and connect more genuinely.

Our work is practical, interactive, and grounded in real-world experience, designed to support professionals and organizations doing work that requires both skill and humanity.

Applied Improv Workshops

“Applied improv is the use of principles, tools, practices, skills and mindsets of improvisational theater in non-theatrical settings, that may result in personal development, team building, creativity, innovation, and/or meaning. “ — Applied Improv Network

Applied improv workshops are flexible, highly interactive and individually designed to meet the needs of each team or organization.

This work facilitates presence, collaborative communication, deep listening and empathy.

Applied improv teaches participants to exploit the power of uncertainty through the use of fun and unique experiential learning.

Participants practice adaptability, supporting one another, navigating uncomfortable conversations, and thinking on their feet with more confidence and less fear of getting it wrong.

Medical Improv Classes

"Medical Improv training teaches powerful tools that can easily enable professionals to more easily and deeply connect with patients.

These tools include attentive listening, observation, emotional presence, empathy and collaboration, and respect for multiple viewpoints.

Another strength of Medical Improv is its potential to increase clinicians’ comfort level and skills with uncertainty, ambiguity, and surprise which are ubiquitous in medical practice.".

Improv Events and Classes

In addition to teaching and coaching performance improv classes, classes and events are offered that use improv as a tool for connection, creativity, and shared experience.

They are welcoming, low-pressure, and accessible to people with no improv background.

The focus is not performance, but participation, presence, and human connection.

In it’s purest form, improv is collaborative storytelling, unscripted and in the moment. And in that space of a willingness and agreement to Yes, And one another is where the magical joy of improv is co-created.
